5. Creating a positive living environment

Our living environment has a significant impact on our personal energy field and how we feel. A space that may seem empty is, in fact, filled with various energies. Everything is energy and radiates a certain energy. This includes energy in the form of interior design, layout, accessories, decoration, lighting, colors, scents, sounds, temperature, symbolism, etc. Additionally, the energy that individuals emit and the energy of events that take place in a space often linger (partially). Thoughts, feelings, intentions, and tensions are also forms of energy that influence the overall energy in a space. Through our aura (our personal energy field), we absorb energies from our surroundings. Therefore, a pleasant living environment has a positive impact on our well-being and happiness.

Feng Shui is a philosophy over 3000 years old that teaches how the environment can influence happiness. Feng Shui explains the impact of design and arrangement on human well-being and happiness. This Chinese philosophy is based on the flow of chi (energy), the five elements (water, fire, earth, metal, and wood), and the opposing yin and yang forces. The goal of Feng Shui is to achieve a harmonious energy flow tailored to your needs. Our home often forms the basis of our living environment and should be a place where you can relax optimally, be completely yourself, and recharge. Each space has its own function, and through design and arrangement, you can align the energy in the space with its purpose. A positive energy flow in your home brings more balance and harmony. Even if you don't believe in this Chinese philosophy, Feng Shui can provide useful advice and inspiration to create a pleasant living environment.

Sounds have an impact on the energy in a space and on human energy (ambient sounds, music, sounds perceived through the TV, etc.). The Japanese researcher Masuru Emoto investigated the impact of sound/music on water, photographing the processes. Water forms different crystal shapes depending on the sound (music) being played. Additionally, words (with positive or negative connotations) were found to visibly influence the crystallization of water. Considering that the human body is 70% water, imagine the impact sound has on our bodies and emotions.
